The Israeli occupation police on Thursday morning set up a makeshift checkpoint at the main entrance to the West Bank city of Salfit near al-Ruwais area and obstructed the movement of Palestinian vehicles.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli police officers deliberately intercepted passing vehicles and embarked on issuing traffic tickets against drivers with no reason.
They added that the arbitrary heavy fines imposed on drivers prompted many of them to use other routes to reach their destination.
