A renewed round of violent clashes took place last night in the Jerusalem district of Issawiya between local youths and the Israeli occupation police.
According to local sources police forces intensively fired rubber bullets as well as tear gas and stun grenades at the angry youths and nearby homes during the events in Issawiya.
The youths for their part responded by showering the forces with rocks and firecrackers forcing them to withdraw.
For long months the Israeli police have unreasonably stepped up their activities in Issawiya and other areas of east Jerusalem and employed excessive force against the local residents undermining stability and stoking tensions in the holy city.
Meanwhile a horde of extremist Jewish settlers attacked on the same day Palestinian-owned vehicles on a road near the illegal settlement of Har Homa in east Jerusalem.
Eyewitnesses said that the settlers hurled stones at cars leading many of them to sustain material damage.
