The Israeli police on Tuesday evening violently attacked a protest held near Bab al-Amud in the Old City of Jerusalem to mark the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba.
Eyewitnesses said that a number of protesters suffered bruises after they were severely assaulted by the Israeli policemen.
Meanwhile violent clashes broke out between Palestinian citizens and the Israeli police in al-Izariya and Abu Dis towns east of Jerusalem.
According to eyewitnesses the police heavily fired sound bombs teargas canisters and rubber-coated metal bullets at the citizens. No injuries were reported.
