The Israeli police quelled a protest on Wednesday in front of Haifa court against the administrative detention sentence imposed on the Palestinian youth Mohammed Ibrahim from Kabul town in the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories.
Sources from the scene reported that a number of protesters suffered suffocation and bruises after the Israeli policemen violently assaulted them.
According to Arabs 48 website dozens of protesters including Palestinian notables Sheikh Raed Salah the head of the Islamic Movement in 1948 Occupied Palestine political activists and Ibrahim’s family demonstrated in front of Haifa District Court in solidarity with the administrative detainee Mohammed Ibrahim.
The demonstrators raised banners with slogans demanding the release of Ibrahim.
Mohammed Ibrahim 20 was arrested on 10th May 2016 and had his administrative detention extended without trial or a specific charge to 15th March 2017.
Ibrahim’s administrative detention was scheduled to be renewed again but the decision was postponed to next Sunday.
Based on the judge’s decision no-one was allowed to attend the court hearing including media representatives except for Ibrahim’s lawyer. He also excluded the presence of the detainee and his lawyer for some time in the hearing claiming that there are secret files that require the presence of the prosecution and the judge only.
The prosecutor asked for extending the administrative detention imposed on Ibrahim for three more months.
