Monday 7-May-2007

TULKARM (PIC)– Israeli settlers on Sunday evening started a huge fire in Palestinian lands cultivated with olive and almond trees in the village of Ramin east of Tulkarm city burning 80 dunums of those lands.

Villagers said that settlers of the nearby Anab settlement started fires in their lands adding that they saw a car loaded with those settlers and one of them got out of the vehicle and started the fires before fleeing the scene.

Palestinian civil defense teams rushed to extinguish the fire but were hindered by IOF roadblocks especially when they were forced to pass through the Anab settlement in order to surround and contain the fire from all directions.

The team managed to put off the fire but after it destroyed more than 80 dunums.
