Dozens of Israeli settlers and police officers broke into al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday morning the Islamic Endowment Department (Awqaf) revealed.
The sources said that 64 police officers in civilian clothing forced their way into al-Aqsa Mosque amid very tied military protection.
Meanwhile 43 settlers stormed the holy shrine in the form of successive groups and toured throughout the compound.
While Jewish break-ins are permitted to the compound non-Muslim worship is prohibited according to an agreement signed between Israel and the Jordanian government after Israel’s occupation of Jerusalem in 1967.
