A group of Israeli settlers on Tuesday razed a large tract of Palestinian farmlands east of Yatta town in the southern West Bank province of al-Khalil.
Local coordinator of the anti-wall and anti-settlements committee Rateb Jabour said that settlers from Israel’s illegal settlement of Maon bulldozed dozens of dunums of farmlands under military protection.
The targeted lands belong to the Morr Abu Bbeita and Moghannam families he added.
The attack mainly aims to expand the illegal settlements of Maon and Havat Maon according to Jabour.
He concluded that settlers have been stepping up efforts to destroy Palestinian farmlands in the area to expand nearby settlements after Israeli authorities have issued new settlement plans in the area.
