TULKARM (PIC)– Israeli soldiers wielding arms batons and gas hoses stormed the Jalbo prison on Monday during a visit of relatives of incarcerated Palestinian prisoners and assaulted the internees Palestinian lawyer Shadi Younis said.
Nidal Yaghmour brother of one of the prisoners and an eyewitness said that suddenly a big number of Israeli soldiers stormed the prison “while we were visiting our imprisoned relatives”.
“Another group of soldiers surrounded the visitors and drove them out of the prison compound after which we started to hear the sound of bullets and sonic bombs and we saw smoke billowing from the assaulted prison wards” he elaborated.
The Nafha legal society catering for affairs of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails voiced strong condemnation of such practice on the part of the Jalbo prison authority.
It said that the incident constituted a crime against humanity to be added to the Israeli occupation’s long list of similar violations.
The society appealed to the Red Cross which organizes visits by relatives of those prisoners to them to adopt necessary measures to stop such inhuman practices.
