Israeli warplanes wage overnight attack on Lebanese border

Thursday 5-August-2021

The Israeli occupation army at dawn Thursday escalated its response to yesterday’s projectile attacks by launching the first airstrikes on Lebanon in seven years.

The Israeli army said in a statement that fighter jets struck the launch sites from which projectiles had been fired over the previous day as well as an additional target used to attack Israel in the past.

The Israeli army held the State of Lebanon fully responsible for the shelling on Israeli territory and warned against further attempts to attack the border.

Lebanon’s al-Manar satellite channel run by Hezbollah said Israeli aircraft carried out two strikes at around 12.40 am on an area outside the town of Mahmudiya some seven miles from the border.

The Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday fired dozens of artillery shells into Lebanon in response to projectile attacks on an Israeli border area.

According to news reports at last three rockets were fired from Lebanon yesterday two of which reached Israel striking an open area near the northern community of Qiryat Shemona.

In response 92 artillery shells were reportedly fired by the Israeli army on southern Lebanon.
