Israeli women organization condemns IPA maltreatment of Palestinian captives

Sunday 15-April-2007

NAZARETH (PIC)– The Israeli “women for female captives” organization has scathingly condemned the Israeli prison authority (IPA) for maltreating Palestinian women captives in Israeli jails.

“A lot of the Palestinian female captives are exposed to harsh treatment in Israeli jails and denied family visits that aggravate their agonies” said a report issued by the Israeli organization.

At present there are 128 Palestinian women captives in Israeli jails according to the report.

The organization also accused the IPA of transferring those female captives from one jail to another without bothering themselves to inform their families or lawyers.

The report furthermore charged the IPA of deliberately delaying letters from the captives’ relatives before handing them over to the concerned detainees after 3-4 months from receiving them.

Moreover the Israeli human rights group unveiled that the IPA isn’t providing the female captives with the necessary blankets and mattresses especially during winter season that badly affect their health amidst obvious medical neglect on the part of the IPA towards the Palestinian captives.

In a related matter Palestinian lawmaker Mohammed Shehab of Hamas Movement condemned the IPA decision of grouping all Palestinian prisoners from Gaza Strip in the Ramle prison inside the 1948-occupied Palestinian lands.

He charged that the IOA wants to divide the Palestinian people even in prisons after it divided them geographically on the ground.

According to prisoners’ sources the IPA officials informed the  Gazan prisoners that their transfer to the Ramle prison will start in May after the Jewish festivals.

Shehab also deprecated the IPA decision of denying administratively detained Palestinian captives in the Negev jail family visit for one month as a mass punishment to them for using mobile phones inside the jail.
