JSC holds Israel responsible for safety of journalist Amer Abu Arafa

Tuesday 19-July-2022

The Beirut-based Journalists Support Committee (JSC) has held the Israeli occupation state fully responsible for any harm coming to Quds Press journalist Amer Abu Arafa who was kidnaped by Israeli soldiers from his home in al-Khalil City at dawn Tuesday.

In a statement coordinator of the committee in Palestine Saleh al-Masri called for immediately releasing Abu Arafa and 16 other detained journalists from Israeli jails.

“The repeated detention of journalists by the Israeli security system aims to obscure the Palestinian narrative given the great role that journalists play in exposing the occupation’s crimes” Masri said.

He stressed the need for enforcing the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2222 on the protection of journalists calling for international action to provide such protection for the journalists and media outlets working in the Palestinian arena and end impunity for the crimes that are committed by Israel against them.

He also called on human rights groups to necessarily move to curb Israel’s crimes and violations against Palestinian journalists and work on having 16 journalists including a woman released from Israeli jails.
