Jabbarin accuses Israeli gov’t of dallying over prisoner exchange

Sunday 21-August-2022

Senior Hamas official Zaher Jabbarin said on Saturday that his Movement provided a general framework for a prisoner swap deal but the Israeli occupation government continues to procrastinate in this regard.

In press remarks to Al Jazeera satellite channel Jabbarin accused the Israeli government of being elusive and dragging its feet regarding the issue of its prisoners in the Gaza Strip.

He also said that the Israeli leaders seek to make electoral gains at the expense of the Palestinian prisoners.

He stressed that his Movement would continue to support the Palestinian prisoners until they obtain their freedom pointing out that head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya recently started contacting several regional parties to put them in the picture of the violations which the prisoners in Israeli jails are exposed to.

Currently over 4650 Palestinians are being held in Israeli prisons including about 30 women 280 children 650 administrative detainees and hundreds of patients.

In Gaza there are four Israeli captives including two soldiers identified as Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul who were captured during the Israeli war on Gaza in 2014.
