Jenin: Protect the education sector against Israeli violations

Wednesday 27-December-2017

The directorate of education in Jenin on Wednesday called for providing protection for Palestinian educational institutions students and teachers in the occupied West Bank against Israel’s attacks and violations.

In a press release the directorate of education denounced the teargas attack by Israeli soldiers on Izz ad-Din al-Qassam High School in Yab’ad town south of Jenin and described it as part of an Israeli systematic policy targeting the educational process in general and this school in particular.

For his part director of education in Jenin Tareq Alawneh said that Izz ad-Din al-Qassam school is always exposed to repeated attacks by the Israeli occupation forces who killed several years ago one of its students and arrested many others.

Alawneh appealed to local and international human rights and media institutions to take their role in exposing such Israeli practices and curb all violations against school children and the Palestinian education sector in the West Bank.

Israeli soldiers on Tuesday showered the courtyard of al-Qassam School with tear gas causing breathing problems to dozens of students and teachers who suffered greatly from their exposure to toxic fumes.
