Jenin: Sit-in in solidarity with hunger strikers in Israeli jails

Tuesday 18-October-2016

Palestinian factions and national figures in Jenin province on Monday called for participating actively in events in support of the hunger-striking prisoners in Israeli jails.

This came in a protest sit-in staged by a popular committee in Jenin city in solidarity with hunger strikers Majd Abu Shamla from Yabad town and Hasan Rabai’ah from Meithalun town.

A spokesman for the families of the hunger strikers called on the Palestinian official institutions human rights groups and media outlets to play a role in highlighting the suffering of hunger-striking prisoners in Israeli jails and pressuring for their release.

Other spokesmen hailed the steadfastness of hunger strikers Abu Shamla and Rabai’ah and held the Israeli government fully responsible for the lives of all Palestinian prisoners in its jails.

They also asked international humanitarian groups especially the Red Cross to assume their responsibilities towards the Palestinian prisoners.
