Scholars and Preachers Commission in occupied Jerusalem welcomed the UN Security Council’s decision against Israeli settlements building in Palestine and describing them as illegal.
The commission stated “Condemning the Israeli settlements in Palestine is a major development” adding that it is “historic and taken in the right direction”.
“According to this decision the Israeli settlement activity and other violations must stop immediately” the commission underscored.
The commission underlined that the Israeli settlement activity is a form of occupation and it must end since it constitutes an obstacle in the way of Palestinian freedom.
The commission consists of a number of Islamic scholars in Jerusalem and other areas of Palestine headed by Ekrima Sabri the Aqsa preacher and former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.
The 15-member UN Security Council passed a decision on Friday evening calling on Israel to immediately stop all settlement activities in Palestine with a sweeping majority of 14 votes and one abstention.
