Jerusalemite activist receives demolition ultimatum against home

Thursday 1-September-2022

The Israeli occupation police delivered on Thursday another demolition notice issued by the Israeli municipality against the house of Jerusalemite activist Fakhri Abu Diyab in Silwan district.

Abu Diyab said that police officers put up a new demolition notice on his house’s door in the morning after handing him a similar written order a few days ago.

During the first half of the current year the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) demolished or seized over 300 homes and structures in the West Bank and Jerusalem according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The Palestinians in the occupied territories have no choice but to build on their own lands without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on them and makes it hard for them to obtain construction permits.
