The Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem displaced a Palestinian family after forcing it to demolish its own home in Jabel Mukaber neighborhood southeast of the holy city.
Al-Dabs family said that it carried out an Israeli court verdict ordering it to raze the house within 12 days adding that it had to comply with the order in order to avoid paying demolition expenses to the Israeli occupation authority (IOA).
The family had tried for years to obtain a license for the house and incurred all legal expenses and a 45000 shekel penalty for building with no license.
The IOA claims the house was built illegally on land confiscated by the state although the family has documents proving its ownership of the land.
The house built four years ago was accommodating five individuals.
