Jerusalemite organization warns of Israeli policy of deportation

Monday 12-December-2022

The Islamic-Christian Committee in Support of Jerusalem and its Sanctuaries has warned of the escalating Israeli deportation orders issued against Jerusalemite activists and prisoners.

In a press statement on Monday the Committee said that the Israeli policy of deportation practiced against Jerusalemite activists constitutes part of its ethnic cleansing and forcible expulsion policies stressing that such a policy is a war crime.

“Israel is escalating its policy of deportation with complete disregard of the international laws and conventions and continues to enjoy impunity and protection for its crimes” the Committee affirmed adding that this policy poses a threat to the Palestinian existence in Jerusalem.

The Committee condemned the Israeli decision to deport Jerusalemite prisoner Salah al-Hamouri to France calling on the human rights institutions to provide legal protection for the Palestinian people.

The Israeli Judicial Adviser and Minister of Justice had approved the decision to withdraw the Jerusalem ID of prisoner Al-Hamouri.

In 2020 Al-Hamouri received a notice ordering him to go to a police station in Jerusalem to receive the Minister of Interior’s decision to revoke Al-Hamouri’s permanent residency in Jerusalem.

Al-Hamouri a Jerusalemite activist spent 8 years in Israeli jails and has been banned from traveling and from entering the West Bank.

In 2016 Israel deported Al-Hamouri’s wife from Palestine claiming that she supports campaigns to boycott Israel.
