The researcher in settlement and Jerusalemite affairs Jamal Amr called on Arab and Islamic countries to support UNESCO recent decision denying Jewish ties to the holy al-Aqsa Mosque.
Member states of the UNESCO on Thursday voted on a draft proposal that denied any Jewish connection to the Aqsa Mosque compound and the Western Wall (al-Buraq Wall) and their surrounding areas.
Speaking to the PIC reporter Amr called on Arab and Islamic countries which include two billion Muslims to adopt and support the UNESCO decision.
He also stressed the importance of such a decision in this particular difficult time in reference to the Palestinian internal division.
On Friday Israel’s Education Minister Naftali Bennett condemned the UNESCO resolution and instructed the Israeli committee to UNESCO to freeze ties with the UN body.
