NABLUS (PIC)– More than one thousand Jewish settlers infiltrated under military protection at dawn Tuesday into Nablus city to perform Talmudic rituals in the Tomb of Yusuf.
Security forces from the Palestinian authority were seen as usual withdrawing from their posts on the streets before Israeli soldiers and settlers entered the eastern part of the city where the Tomb is located.
Palestinian young men from the area clashed with the invading settlers and troops. The soldier responded violently by firing tear gas grenades and rubber bullet at the young men and nearby homes.
The Hebrew radio said one Palestinian citizen from the city was detained for allegedly throwing stones at the soldiers who came along with the settlers.
