A horde of extremist Jewish settlers wreaked havoc on dozens of olive trees on Saturday in the northwest of al-Khalil.

Iyad Hamidat head of the municipality in Surif town said that settlers from the illegal settlement of Bat Ayin destroyed and uprooted over 50 olive trees in Daher al-Mansara area in the east of the town.

Later local farmers clashed with the settlers and managed to fend them off.

The trees belonged to several local farmers from Surif town.

A horde of extremist Jewish settlers on Monday wreaked havoc on a Palestinian-owned olive grove near Sa’ir town northeast of al-Khalil in the occupied West Bank.

Media sources in al-Khalil said that dozens of settlers from the illegal settlement of Kiryat Arba destroyed and chopped off about 70 olive trees aged over 20 years in al-Uddeisa area south of Sa’ir town.

Israeli soldiers also provided protection for the settlers and clashed with local residents after they intervened and tried to prevent further destruction of olive trees.

The grove belongs to a local villager called Yousef Ismail and his family.
