AL-KHALIL (PIC)– Jewish settlers damaged 25 olive trees in Beit Ummar village to the north of Al-Khalil at noon Tuesday only one week after Palestinian farmers planted them.
Yousef Abu Mariya the coordinator of the popular anti settlement and anti wall committee in the village told Quds Press that tens of settlers destroyed the trees near the settlement of Karmi Tzur under the very eyes of the Israeli occupation soldiers who did not act to stop them.
He said that the Israeli occupation authority was intent on expanding the settlement at the expense of the village’s land.
In a similar incident but east of Nablus Jewish settlers raided Aqraba village on Monday and destroyed 100 olive seedlings that were planted only a few days ago.
Ghassan Daghlas monitoring settlement activity north of the West Bank said that the settlers escalated their raids over the past few days.
He said that a group of them on Tuesday attacked Al-Laban Al-Sharqiya village south of Nablus and wrote threats on several buildings.
Daghlas noted that the settlers’ attacks were rising thanks to the encouragement of the far right coalition government of Benjamin Netanyahu.
