The Jordanian parliament has called for immediate Arab and international action against Israel’s measures in Occupied Jerusalem and at the Aqsa Mosque.
This came during an emergency session held on Monday by the parliament to discuss the Israeli violations in Jerusalem.
The Jordanian lawmakers called on their government to address the UN Security Council about “stopping Israeli violations and protecting the Palestinian people” and to assume its role in supporting the Islamic Awqaf authorities in Jerusalem.
A statement released by the parliament highlighted Jordan’s role in protecting the Aqsa Mosque in its capacity as the Hashemite custodian of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
The statement underlined Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state and rejected any measures taken by countries to move their embassies to the holy city.
The statement also condemned all forms of normalization with Israel and asked the government “to recall the Jordanian ambassador from Israel and expel the Israeli ambassador from Amman to confront the ongoing Israeli aggression at holy sites in Occupied Jerusalem.”
The parliament noted in its statement that its competent committees would reexamine the Wadi Araba peace treaty and the gas deal with Israel before taking decisions about them.
