The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Thursday the Israeli authorities’ approval of building new settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Dhaifallah Al-Fayez the ministry’s spokesperson confirmed in a press statement that this step is rejected and represents a violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
He stressed that the Israeli settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian lands whether building or expanding settlements confiscating lands or displacing Palestinians undermines calm efforts to achieve a comprehensive and just peace and the chances of a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions.
On Wednesday the Israeli government approved 31 building plans in settlements built on occupied Palestinian land in the West Bank during a meeting of the “Settlement Committee of the Israeli Civil Administration.”
