The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli occupation authority (IOA)’s restrictions imposed on Christian worshippers depriving thousands of them of reaching the Church of Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem to celebrate the Holy Saturday.
The ministry spokesman Haitham Abu al-Fool said in a statement on Sunday that preventing the Christian Palestinian worshippers from reaching the church by setting makeshift checkpoints and closing gates leading to the church is ‘intolerable and condemned’ warning that Israel the occupying power in Jerusalem must stop these restrictions and allow freedom of worship to all Palestinian worshippers.
On Saturday the IOA attacked Christian Palestinian worshippers and restricted their access to the Church of Sepulcher to participate in the Holy Saturday.
The IOA closed the New Gate a gate in Jerusalem that leads to the Church of Holy Sepulcher leaving only Bab al-Amud and Bab al-Khalil open.
