Saturday 24-April-2021

The Jordanian ministry of foreign affairs has condemned the acts of incitement and provocation that were committed by extremist Jewish groups on Thursday night in Occupied Jerusalem.

“The Israeli authorities the occupying power in Eastern Jerusalem according to international law are held fully responsible for allowing these groups to reach the Old City shout racist chants and slogans and attack Jerusalemites” spokesman for the ministry Dhaifallah al-Fayez said in a press release on Friday.

The spokesman called on the Israeli authorities to abide by their obligations under international law and cease all actions that might harm the local residents in Occupied Jerusalem and restrict their rights and freedoms.

He also slammed the restrictions that had been imposed by the Israeli police on the access of Muslim worshipers to Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque to perform Friday prayers and called on Israel to end such practices and respect the historical and legal status quo in the holy city.

He also appealed to the international community to assume its responsibilities in this regard and pressure Israel to put an end to such violations and provocations in the Old City of Jerusalem and at the Aqsa Mosque.
