Jordan has strongly denounced Israel’s decision to build a new Jewish settlement in the Old City of al-Khalil south of the occupied West Bank calling for international action against Israel’s settlement expansion.
“Jordan condemns the Israeli government’s announcement of new settlement projects in Jabel Mukaber Qalandiya and the Old City of al-Khalil” Jordanian foreign minister Ayman al-Safadi said in a press release on Monday.
Safadi described Israel’s settlement plans as illegal measures violating international law and undermining peace efforts.
He called on the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities to put an end to Israel’s settlement activity.
