Several Jordanianagricultural engineers on Thursday joined their colleague Shaheen Mar’ie in hissit-in outside the building of the foreign ministry in Amman to demand theauthorities to follow up the case of his brother who is detained in an Israelijail.
Mar’ie staged thesit-in in protest at the absence of any official action to follow up the caseof his brother Munir after Israeli jailers physically assaulted him in Gilboaprison.
Theparticipants in the sit-in expressed their solidarity with Shahin Mar’ie whohas been on hunger strike for several days to call attention to the sufferingof his brother in detention.
The family ofMunir Mar’ie also demands the Jordanian government to intervene to allow themto visit him in jail.
For over 14 yearsMunir who was reportedly assaulted by jailers has not been able to see anymembers of his family except once in 2007.
