Mai Al-Kailah the Palestinian Minister of Health announced on Tuesday that 31 deaths and 2025 new cases of the coronavirus were recorded during the last 24 hours.
Kailah confirmed in the daily epidemiological report of coronavirus that 10 deaths and 454 infections were recorded in the West Bank while 21 deaths and 1556 new cases were recorded in the Gaza Strip.
The new recovery cases were distributed as follows: Qalqilya 70 Tubas 30 Salfit 3 Nablus 212 Jenin 235 Tulkarem 36 al-Khalil 75 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 69 Bethlehem 28 the suburbs of Jerusalem 19 Jericho and Al-Aghwar 4 the Gaza Strip 1500 and Jerusalem 25 the minister added.
Kailah said that the recovery rate of the coronavirus reached 89.4 percent while the rate of active infections reached 9.5 percent and the death rate was 1.1% of all infections.
She pointed out that there are 156 critically ill patients who have been admitted to intensive care units including 46 who have been placed on ventilators.
Regarding the vaccination campaign the minister noted that the total number of people who received the corona vaccine in the West Bank and Gaza Strip reached 166849 including 25466 who received the two doses of the vaccine.
Meanwhile Kailah said that the Council of Ministers approved purchasing four and a half million doses of Pfizer and Sputnik vaccines and that the government has allocated $27.5 million for those vaccines.
She added in statements to Voice of Palestine Radio that the number of deaths reflects the worsening epidemiological situation and that the situation in the Gaza Strip raises concerns.
The minister noted that there is a reluctance to receive vaccinations in the Gaza Strip compared to the West Bank. The percentage in the West Bank is 7.1% and in Gaza 2.2% despite the fact that the Russian and AstraZeneca vaccines are available in Gaza she noted.
