Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei said that his country’s transparent and open supportive position towards Palestine is one of the reasons behind some countries’ hostility against Tehran.
Khamenei made his remarks during his meeting on Monday with a high-level delegation from the Hamas Movement led by its political deputy chief Saleh al-Aruri in Tehran.
According to Khamenei’s office the Iranian religious leader affirmed that Tehran would never yield to the pressures it is exposed to because of its positions on Palestine describing his country’s support for Palestine as an issue of religion and faith.
The Iranian leader also lauded Hamas and its leadership for confronting Israel’s policies and said that Hamas is “at the heart of the Palestinian movement as the Palestinian question is at the heart of the Islamic world.”
He expressed his regret and dismay at some regional countries’ “subordination to America and the folly they committed when they forsake Palestine” expressing his belief that the circumstances would be better if the Islamic world was united in supporting Palestine.
