NABLUS (PIC)– The second deputy speaker of the PLC Hasan Khreisha called for the release of all political prisoners including the academics who were lately arrested and are being tortured in the PA jails.
Khreisha said in a press statement on Thursday that more than ten lecturers at al-Najah university in Nablus are being detained by Abbas’s security apparatuses and that they are being tortured according to the red cross representatives who visited the detained lecturers.
He described the arrest campaign against academics as systematic and will have negative repercussions on the education process calling for an end to political detention so that Zionist plans to liquidate the Palestinian issue can be faced.
He called on university rectors and lecturers to reject these detentions and criticised the state fear engulfing everyone and keeping them silent towards these detentions.
Khreisha stressed that torture crimes cannot be dropped due to passage of time and that everyone involved in torture should be brought to justice and he specified the crime of political arrest which is linked to the internal Palestinian situation and the security coordination with the occupation.
