GAZA (PIC)– MP Jamal Al-Khudari the head of the popular committee against the siege along with Sheikh Nasser Al-Fidalah a member of Bahrain’s parliament called Sunday for continuing the Arab and Islamic support for the Gaza Strip at the official and popular levels.
This came in the context of a visit by a Bahraini delegation including a number of dignitaries and heads of philanthropic foundations during which they met with members from the popular committee.
For his part Khudari stated that the visit of the Bahraini delegation to Gaza represents great support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and confirms the Arab and Islamic depth of the Palestinian cause.
Khudari also briefed the visiting delegation on the damaging effects of the Israeli siege on all aspects of life in Gaza especially on the health sector.
Sheikh Fadala who is heading the Bahraini parliamentary committee for the support of the Palestinian cause opined that the goal which must be achieved between Palestine and the Arab states is to rid the Palestinian people of the Israeli control over their lives which is the cause of their suffering.
The Bahraini lawmaker also announced that many of the charitable institutions in Bahrain are ready to send all possible assistance to the besieged Gaza people to support their steadfastness.
In another context the caretaker government embarked on distributing 500 tons of food supplies provided by Egypt to poor families in the impoverished Gaza Strip.
In a press release received by the PIC the information office of the cabinet’s general secretariat stated that the secretariat in cooperation with the ministry of social affairs delivered food aid and rations to a number of trusted charitable foundations in Gaza which will distribute them very soon to the needy families affected by the Israeli siege.
The information office pointed out that the humanitarian assistance was provided by the federation of Arab doctors in Cairo and the syndicate of Egyptian doctors in addition to a number of associations and companies.
For its part the caretaker government headed by premier Ismail Haneyya thanked Egypt for providing this generous assistance to alleviate the suffering of the Gaza people pointing out that the aid included food and medical supplies.
The information office explained that the health ministry received the medical assistance which includes medicines medical supplies and devices to distribute them soon to hospitals and medical centers in the Strip adding that the ministry will announce later the size and kind of the Egyptian medical aid.
