Krähenbühl: Ready to work with PA government to improve Gazans’ lives

Monday 2-October-2017

UNRWA Commissioner General Pierre Krähenbühl on Monday said that UNRWA is ready to cooperate with the Palestinian Authority (PA) government to improve the living conditions of people in Gaza.

During a press conference held in Gaza city Krähenbühl stressed that all parties must cooperate to provide a radical solution for the crises plaguing the Gaza Strip and create job opportunities that would reduce unemployment and poverty rates.

He added that it is very important to find solutions for the problems related to electricity sewage and blockade in particular.

Krähenbühl affirmed that UNRWA will continue to protect the mandate given to it by the United Nations to serve refugees and that it will always offer its services to Palestinian refugees despite the Israeli efforts to disband the Agency.

He touched on the meetings held recently in New York where UNRWA has received additional support that helped the Agency to reduce its fiscal deficit from $126 million to $77 million.
