Kuwait Parliament asserts country’s rejection of normalization

Thursday 21-February-2019

The Kuwaiti Parliament on Wednesday affirmed that refusing normalization with Israel is a solid part of Kuwait’s foreign policy.

This came in press remarks made by head of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee MP Abdul-Kareem al-Kandari after a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the participation of the Kuwaiti delegation in the recent Warsaw conference.

The meeting was held by the foreign affairs committee with the presence of National Assembly speaker Marzouk al-Ghanem deputy premier and minister of foreign affairs Sheikh Sabah Al Sabah and deputy minister of foreign affairs Khaled al-Jarallah.

The meeting was held following parliamentary and popular criticism of al-Jarallah for taking part in a group picture at a Warsaw conference in which the Israeli premier was also present.

Members of the foreign affairs committee openly conveyed to the ministry of foreign affairs the popular rejection of its participation in the Warsaw conference that was attended by Israel.

Kuwait would never normalize relations with Israel and would not allow any side to take advantage of the country’s participation in the conference to convince it to change its position in this regard Kandari stressed.

Kandari added that his committee would cooperate with the ministries of commerce and information to boost efforts against normalization.
