Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced his country’s willingness to host Palestinian-Israeli negotiations. He expressed his concern about the continued halt in negotiations between the two parties.
Lavrov said in a statement during a meeting with Secretary of the Executive Committee of the PLO Saeb Erekat on Friday in Moscow that Palestinian factions’ representatives who are going to convene next week in Moscow should discuss their disputes and try to reach a united stand allowing them to negotiate with Israel more effectively.
Palestinian negotiations with Israel have reached a dead-end since April 2014 after Israel refused to stop settlement activity and to release the oldest-serving Palestinian prisoners.
