TULKAREM (PIC)– The Nafha society that caters and defends rights of Palestinian captives in Israeli jails has accused the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) of contributing to the rapid deterioration in the health of Palestinian female captive Faten Daraghma in Hasharon prison.
In a statement it issued and a copy of which was faxed to the PIC the society revealed that Daraghma was suffering of severe pains due to infection in her gallbladder yet it added the IOA refused to extend any medical help.
Comrades of Daraghma in the jail had repeatedly begged the jail’s administration to accord her proper medication but to no avail said lawyer Sana’a Al-Dwaik of the society after meeting a number of Palestinian female captives in that jail.
She also added that the jail’s administration placed a number of Palestinian female prisoners in solitary confinement for sympathizing with Daraghma.
Hence the society urged international and local human rights and legal institutions including the Red Cross among other humanitarian establishments to strongly pressure the IOA and to force it attend to the captives medical needs as promulgated in international laws and conventions.
Tens of Palestinian prisoners had died in Israeli jails over the past few decades due to deliberate medical neglect on the part of their Israeli jailors.
