Deputy head of the Islamic Movement in territories occupied in 1948 (Israel) Kamal al-Khatib released a set of pictures showing the damage wrought by Israel’s large-scale excavations beneath Jerusalem’s holy al-Aqsa Mosque.
Posted on al-Khatib’s Facebook page the live photos were initially sent by an Israeli engineer to his friends as he boasted about his achievements in the underground excavations below and around al-Aqsa.
Al-Khatib said the excavations which have been kept secret by the Israeli occupation authorities seek an underground extension to the Buraq Wall (al-Aqsa’s western wall) in the first such move since 1670.
He added modern pipes have been installed proving the fact that the excavations are a new creation.
The Israeli occupation authorities have embarked on excavations both secret and announced since 1967 in the hunt for the alleged temple mount which historical chronicles say is a mere allusion that only exists in Israelis’ dreams.
