MP Atoun sentenced to 4 months administrative detention

Monday 11-April-2022

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Monday sentenced MP Ahmed Atoun a deportee from Jerusalem to administrative detention for four months.

Israeli police arrested Atoun ten days ago on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan after storming his house.

MP Atoun who spent 16 years in Israeli prisons was set free only eight months ago before he was arrested again according to the spokesman of the Jerusalem Prisoners’ Families Committee Amjad Abu Asab.

Israeli police withdrew Atoun’s Jerusalem ID card in 2010 and served him deportation order from his hometown Jerusalem. He resided in the West Bank and has been routinely harassed and summoned since then.

The IOA has launched repeated campaigns of persecution of Jerusalemite figures in a bid to curb their influence in the Palestinian arena especially with the escalating Jewish settlers’ break-ins into the holy Aqsa Mosque.
