Palestinian lawmaker Anwar az-Zaboun has affirmed that the emergence and growth of resistance groups in the occupied West Bank “constitute a terrifying obsession for the Israeli occupation state.”
In press remarks on Saturday MP Zaboun said that Israel’s threat to carry out a large-scale operation like the one that happened in 2002 during the second intifada (uprising) reflects its fears over the danger being posed by these resistance groups to its soldiers and settlers in the West Bank.
The lawmaker stressed that the strength of the Palestinian resistance became greater than before while the popular support for the resistance increased in the West Bank.
He expressed his belief that the situation in the West Bank is very likely to spiral into a third intifada despite the security cooperation between the Palestinian Authority and the occupation state.
