Palestinian MP Najat Abu Bakir deputy on Fatah Movement called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to halt arrest campaigns complete the reconciliation process and expand the range of freedoms as a goodwill gesture toward the latest Cairo agreement regarding reconciliation.
Abu Bakir expressed her concerns over the continuation of arrests security campaigns and the closure of societies as well as repression of the media in the West Bank. She called on the PA and its security forces to bear their responsibilities towards the reconciliation.
The MP also asked the Palestinian Legislative Council to hold an emergency session in order to monitor the implementation of the reconciliation agreement.
