MP proposes human shields around the Aqsa Mosque

Thursday 8-February-2007

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Former head of the Palestine scholars league (PSL) in the West Bank and current Hamas legislator in the PLC Sheikh Hamed Al-Beitawi has urged the Palestinian people to march towards the Aqsa Mosque and to form human shields around it to foil the Israeli malicious conspiracies against it.

The Israeli occupation government started demolishing parts of the Aqsa Mosque’s walls near the Magharba gate that caused an outcry across the Muslim and Arab world.

The Hamas lawmaker urged Arab and Muslim countries with ties with the Hebrew state to immediately sever those relations and boycott it urging Palestinian citizens particularly those in Jerusalem and the 1948-occupied lands to head to the Aqsa Mosque and form human shields around it.

The Israeli demolition process at the Mosque intensified further for the third successive day amidst confirmed reports that Israel aims at distorting the Mosque’s Muslim landmarks and make it prone to attacks from fanatic Israeli settlers according to the Aqsa foundation that caters for Muslim holy shrines in Palestine.

In the past fanatic Jewish groups and Israeli officials attempted to defile sanctity of the sacred Muslim place; yet vigilant Muslims thwarted all those attempts. Many of them were killed or wounded in fierce clashes with the fully geared IOF troops.

Roadblocks and barriers installed by the IOF troops on main streets leading to the Jerusalem city were still erected in a bid to block tens of thousands of Palestinians from the West Bank marching towards the Aqsa. They also denied Palestinian citizens less than 45 years old from entering the Mosque.

Beitawi furthermore called on the Arab and Muslim Ummah including the OIC and the Arab League to seriously stand up against those Israeli violent acts and to rally the international community behind Muslim rights in the Mosque.

For its part the Islamic Movement in the 1948-occupied lands declared high alert and urged Muslims in Palestine to block the destruction of the Mosque.

In Tulkarm city thousands of Palestinian citizens of various political spectrums broke in to the city’s streets in condemnation of the Israeli conspiracies against the Mosque.

The demonstrators chanted pro-Aqsa and pro-Palestinian unity slogans affirming that the Palestinian national unity was and still is the strongest weapon in Palestinian hands to confront the Israeli occupation government.
