MPs in West Bank call for setting up consensus political program

Wednesday 4-October-2017

Members of Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) in the West Bank demanded setting up a consensus political program that would achieve the goals of the Palestinian people of unity and independence.

In a statement on Wednesday the West Bank MPs demanded the activation of the PLC in order to boost the reconciliation efforts towards holding general elections. They also demanded allowing more room for freedom of speech and press work as well as transferring money to run the only power plant in the besieged Gaza Strip and resuming medical referrals.

The MPs also called on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to lift the punitive measures on Gaza. They stressed the necessity to pay the salaries of civil employees in Gaza and the ex-detainees. Other demands include the cancellation of forced retirement and lifting the ban on electronic websites.
