Maariv: Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia and Netanyahu met in Jordan

Saturday 23-June-2018

Maariv newspaper said that a meeting was held in camera last Monday between Saudi crown prince Mohamed bin Salman and Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu in Jordan.

According to Maariv bin Salman met Netanyahu in the Jordanian royal palace in Amman on the sidelines of a regional visit by senior White House adviser Jared Kushner and US envoy to the Middle East Jason Greenblatt.

The newspaper quoted an informed source as saying that there are direct contacts underway between Saudi Arabia and Israel as part of US-backed efforts to impose a peace deal on the Palestinians.

Kushner conferred last week with leaders across the Middle East before arriving Friday in Israel where he met with Netanyahu.

Kushner talked with leaders throughout the Middle East about the efforts to facilitate peace between the Palestinians and Israelis after which the administration is expected to release its peace proposal which is dubbed “the ultimate deal.”

Last Wednesday bin Salman discussed with Kushner the details of the peace deal they seek to push the Palestinians to accept with the Israeli side.

This peace deal which is called by some as “the deal of the century” and backed in particular by Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates calls for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on dismembered pieces of land without Jerusalem as its capital and with all the illegal settlements remaining.
