Mahmoud Mousa: Numerous risks result from the normalization process

Friday 16-November-2018

The head of Al-Aqsa Support Campaign in Lebanon Mahmoud Moussa said: “Normalization has existed for a long time but has been intensified in the last period for several reasons including the Arab peoples’ relative preoccupation with their own concerns which are exploited by their rulers who now announced having diplomatic ties with the Israelis. The Deal of the Century is being implemented and normalization is one of its main aspects.”

Moussa’s statement came during a dialogue with “normalization is a crime campaign” a campaign which was launched few days ago and aims to mobilize efforts to counter normalization.

“In the absence of an Arab project some Arab rulers resorted to implementing some agendas of the American project to protect themselves instead of working on an Arab-Islamic project that would unite people confront Israelis and protect Arabs” he said.

As for the dangers of this project he added: “There are a number of dangers including social political and the recognition of the existence of the Israelis in Palestine their expansion criminalization of the resistance greater interference in the Arab regional affairs and imposing more pressure on Arab countries that are critical of the occupation. This also includes economic risks as Arab companies will invest in the Zionist entity and Israelis might control vital economic sectors.”

Moussa criticized the argument that normalization is a gateway to push Israelis to peace citing agreements between Israelis and the Palestinian Authority “which did not lead to anything. The Israelis do not want peace but want to control and implement their projects and dreams on Arab lands.”

He noted that “the resistance deterred the Israeli occupier accomplished important successes and achieved a balance of deterrence with the Israeli occupier. I don’t think any economic gains would happen due to normalization. The Israelis have all types of products and their goal is to access Arab markets.”

He stressed that “the Palestinian cause is not only a struggle between the Palestinians and the Israelis but rather a conflict between Arabs and Muslims on one hand and the Zionist entity on the other hand.”

Mahmoud Moussa highlighted a number of anti-normalization activities including “holding vigils and solidarity meetings to pressure Arab rulers not buying goods if produced by a company that deals with the Zionist entity and establishing committees and bodies that include parliamentary and union elites to resist normalization and educate people about the dangers of normalization. Lastly spreading public awareness in the Arab countries about the dangers of normalization and launching media campaigns to this effect.”
