Many Jerusalemites injured others detained by police in Sheikh Jarrah

Tuesday 4-May-2021

At least 20 Palestinian citizens suffered injuries on Monday night when Israeli police forces attacked homes and participants in a peaceful protest sit-in staged in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

The Red Crescent said its ambulance crews provided medical assistance for 20 citizens and transferred some of them to a hospital after police forces attacked a protest and violently raided homes in Sheikh Jarrah.

According to local sources police forces also sprayed skunk water on protesters and homes in Sheikh Jarrah and showered them with tear gas and stun grenades.

A number of citizens were reportedly detained by police forces from Sheikh Jarrah last night.

Several Jerusalemite families with their children are facing displacement threats after Jewish groups recently extracted an Israeli court verdict giving them the green light to take over homes in Sheikh Jarrah.
