March in Amman in support of Palestinian striking prisoners

Friday 5-May-2017

Hundreds of Jordanians participated in a massive popular march that kicked off after Friday prayer from al-Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman in solidarity with Palestinian hunger striking detainees in Israeli jails who have been fasting for the 19th day in a row.

The march was called for by Muslim Brotherhood Movement and Popular Unity Party as well as other popular factions.

The demonstrators called on the Jordanian government to take a clear supportive position in support of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The participants chanted pro-detainees slogans and carried Palestinian and Jordanian flags.

They asked the Jordanian government to intervene for the support of the striking captives and pointed to the fact that there are 24 Jordanian detainees among the hunger strikers.
