Marches strikes and confrontations were witnessed in a number of provinces in the West Bank on Sunday in support for the Palestinian prisoners who have been on hunger strike for the seventh day in a row.
Hundreds of schoolchildren from Nablus city participated in a march in solidarity with the hunger-striking prisoners that concluded with a rally at the permanent solidarity tent.
Director of Education in Nablus Dr. Azmi Balawneh said that the march was to show solidarity with the prisoners who he added are a source of pride for the Palestinian people.
In Balata refugee camp shops were closed in the afternoon in support for the prisoners’ strike.
Another march was launched in Bethlehem where participants raised Palestinian flags portraits of prisoners and banners supporting them.
Director of the Prisoners and Ex-prisoners Affairs Committee Munqez Abu Atwan affirmed that the prisoners’ hunger strike is the battle of all Palestinian people saying “We are required to support it with all our strength.”
Mohammed al-Masri who delivered the national forces’ speech stressed that the prisoners’ will is unbreakable.
In a related development three citizens were injured with rubber-coated bullets after the Israeli occupation forces quelled a mass demonstration which began from Ramallah and headed towards Beit El checkpoint in al-Bireh city in support for the prisoners’ open hunger strike.
