AMMAN (PIC)– Head of the political bureau of Hamas Khaled Mashaal is expected to arrive on Sunday in the Jordanian capital Amman and meet with king Abdullah bin Al-Hussein according to a source from the Movement.
Hamas’s international relations officer Osama Hamdan said in a press statement that he cannot disclose anything related to the meeting of Mashaal with King Abdullah but he referred to another meeting to be held today in the evening between officials from his Movement and the Jordanian government.
Hamdan stated that many topics could be discussed during the meetings between the two sides especially the mutual relations.
Mashaal is scheduled to arrive Sunday morning accompanied by Qatari crown prince Tamim Al Thani on his private jet coming from Doha.
The Hamas delegation includes deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau Moussa Abu Marzouk and senior members of the bureau Sami Khater Izzat Al-Resheq Mohamed Nazzal and Mohamed Nasr.
In this context the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan welcomed the visit of Hamas officials to Jordan and said it would help correct the course of relationship between the two sides.
Deputy head of the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood Jamil Abu-Bakr told Palestine newspaper that the visit of Mashaal and senior Hamas officials to Jordan would be perfect in terms of timing and for the greater good of the Palestinian people and their national cause.
“We have repeatedly called for opening dialog with Hamas and welcoming it in its capacity as an essential part of the Palestinian body upholding the resistance project and rejecting all Zionist plans of the alternative homeland” Abu-Bakr stated.
