Masri: A national debate to take place on reinstating 11th gov’t

Friday 14-October-2016

Palestinian lawmaker Mushir al-Masri has said that a national debate will take place in the Gaza Strip on the reactivation of the 11th Palestinian government which was tabled by the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) on Thursday.
In press remarks to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) Masri explained that the parliamentary session was held yesterday to discuss the legal implications of the Ramallah government’s recent decision to postpone the municipal elections as well as the higher court’s ruling on excluding Gaza from the elections.
He attributed this PLC initiative to the failure of the current government led by Rami al-Hamdallah to assume its duties towards Gaza and its involvement in partisan activities that serve the Fatah Movement and its leadership.
Accordingly he said a proposal was submitted at the PLC calling for studying the possibility of reinstating the former government in Gaza adding that the PLC legal committee was assigned to study that and formulate a draft resolution.
The lawmaker who heads the legal committee of the PLC affirmed that after studying the proposal his committee would discuss it with other national factions and political forces in order to make sure that such step would serve the higher interests of the Palestinian people.
