Mass protests in Tayaseer over government’s marginalization

Sunday 12-March-2017

Mass protests had been held overnight Saturday by the residents of al-Tayaseer town in the northern Jordan Valley in protest at the government’s apathy regarding their dire situation.

Residents of al-Tayaseer flocked to the main access road to the town and burned tires in protest at the Palestinian government’s dragging of its feet vis-à-vis the abject socio-economic conditions endured by civilians in the area.

The protesters strongly condemned the marginalization of the Jordan Valley by the consensus government and their exclusion from development projects.

The protesters urged the government to take up its duties vis-à-vis the calamitous state of affairs in the Jordan Valley.

Speaking with PIC Palestinian citizen Ali Abu Muhssin said Tayaseer town is located on the borderland amidst a chain of Israeli military camps and has been the permanent target of Israeli aggressions.

According to observers Tayaseer village has been blacklisted by the government since 2012 after Fatah lost local village council elections.
